Poem

Caged Independence

I was born to stand, to walk alone,

I was once a river, running free,

Strong in my silence, enough with me.

An independent spirit, carved in stone.

But now my steps are held, confined,

A life restrained against my mind.

Decisions stolen, freedom delayed,

Emotions twisted, strength betrayed.

No voice to hear, no hand to hold,

Just silent battles, quietly told.

Yet deep within, a flame survives,

A stubborn will that still arrives.

Though trapped in chains the world can’t see,

I know one day I will break free.

Someday soon, the locks will break,

The life that’s mine, I’ll rise and take.

For I am still me, though bound and scarred,

An unbowed soul, though the journey is hard.

The cage may hold, but not for long—

My spirit endures, my freedom’s song.
